It is Spring. Time for Renewal.

At one time I was a writer. When I launched this site in May 2007 I had every good intention of writing something every day. Well… you know what they say about good intentions. For a long while I did write regularly. In 2007 I had 17 years of pent up experience and stories to share and that kept me posting regularly into 2009 and that is when things began to taper off. I got distracted. We left our old firm and spun off on our own. Shortly thereafter we changed Broker Dealers. The practice grew. And all of those "reasons" are really just excuses.

Letter to Clients: 4th Quarter 2011

I knew precisely when third quarter statements started arriving in mailboxes. It was moments before my phone started ringing off the hook. I cannot remember a particular quarter where so many clients got so nervous. The third quarter ended with a thud and the statements reflect that. But we cannot look at the account value of a single day and jump to a conclusion about the portfolio in its entirety or the markets as a whole. Fortunately, the fourth quarter is starting with enthusiasm.
